This hackathon was co-hosted by the international nonprofit Blockchain for Good Alliance (BGA) and local blockchain company Masverse, under the theme of “Technology Solving Real-World Problems.” It featured two primary tracks: Student Track and Real-World Developers & Startups Track. As one of the finalists in the latter, Smart Orchard System stands a chance to receive up to $20,000 in funding, and may also be invited to UN City in Copenhagen, Denmark for the Web3Oscar Global Showcase 2025, where it will present its innovations to the international community.

Technology-Driven Agricultural Transformation
Smart Orchard System aims to modernize traditional agriculture through technology. The system deploys IoT sensors in orchards to monitor key environmental metrics such as soil moisture, temperature, and sunlight in real-time. All collected data is encrypted and uploaded to a blockchain network to ensure authenticity, immutability, and traceability.
This data not only empowers farmers with precision decision-making tools but also enhances consumer trust in food origins through transparent data.
In addition, the project team has developed a dedicated mobile app, Smart Orchard System (Viewer), enabling farmers, investors, and stakeholders to remotely monitor orchard conditions, access operational data, and forecast crop yields. The solution enhances management efficiency and provides a practical pathway for the digital transformation of agriculture.

Smart Orchard System Recognition and Global Potential
Being selected for the Top 8 not only acknowledges Smart Orchard System’s technological strength but also marks Malaysia’s presence on the international agri-tech stage. As the world grapples with food security, climate change, and labor shortages, this project showcases how blockchain can improve agricultural transparency, efficiency, and sustainability.
Other finalists alongside Smart Orchard System include projects such as GiveHope (focused on donation transparency), GreenPOS and PowerChain (energy sharing platforms), and Wekongsi (a community collaboration platform). These projects span green energy, social impact, and digital identity, reflecting the wide-ranging value and responsibility of blockchain innovation.
The success of Smart Orchard System strengthens Malaysia’s global image in agricultural technology and offers a viable blueprint for real-world blockchain applications. Looking ahead, the team plans to expand the product’s capabilities and explore integration with ESG metrics, agricultural carbon credits, and food certification systems, aiming to build a broader application ecosystem.
